THIS IS .... CIRCUS - 5th Birthday Party

Last Friday marked the 5th anniversary of This is ...Circus. The party was started in 2006 by Jodie Harsh as a social gathering of arty friends at Too2Much and quickly grew to a weekly Friday night club always attracting a colourful crowd of dressed-up club kids and the odd celebrity, selectively invited to spice-up the night and make a newspaper worthy appearance. Throughout the 5 year span of Circus so far, we have been entertained by the likes of Roisin Murphy, Amanda Lepore, Cazwell, Jessie J, Pete Burns, Kelly Osbourne, Miss Dynamite, Perez Hilton, Sophie Ellis Bextor and many more, all sharing a stage with underground art performances from up and coming performers, some of whom were there last Friday including Scottee, who literally swallowed a meter-long balloon and did not give it back to the kids. Scottee is a sweetheart.

The night had a slow start and by midnight the place was literally half-empty when suddenly as if by some precise measure, just after the clock turned 00.00 there came a hoard of Circus regulars and long-time friends of Jodie, who filled the space with an air of celebration. The birthday was in full force from that point and it felt a little more like the old-time Circus we remember from its early days at Too2Much. The red velvet of Cafe De Paris matched perfectly with the crystal shimmerings of champagne glasses toasting the great occasion. 5 years on, Circus is still going strong and as we hear, Jodie has even bigger plans for it. With this year's Love Box gig, more festivals are definitely on Jodie's priority list and there was a recent tour which proved a challenge, but not impossible. A collaboration between Miss Harsh and photographer Tim Bret-Day resulted in a three-day video installation featuring over 100 of the scene extraordinaries at the Bond club at the back of Carnaby Street. 

All-in-all, Circus is now 5 and we are thrilled to have been there for all the good moments it has offered throughout the years.

Yes boys and girls, London's youngest

dressing-up fiesta is now a year old!

It seems like ages since we first heard

of the party and so many good nights

have rolled since then.

With ID magazine giving it their seal of

approval, the monthly club night grew

bigger and became a set date in the

London Club-Kid's Calendar.

The guys behind the Shabba were

celebrating with style at the 

Baby Bath House 

with friends and devotees last Saturday.

a spectacular look to match to the occasion.

Slimline Clubster Soufflé

London club-kid Zack is giving us a taste with a twist this week with his brand-new recipe. 

Try this and let me know how it tastes...

Slimline Clubster Soufflé

Today's recipe is made entirely of abstract concepts and so you will not put on any weight with this dish! Ideal for the wannabe stick-thin clubster!



1.Take a good sized dollop of Tasty Tim's DJing skills and lightly fry them in the unpredictable nature of Dusty O's sense of humour. Then finely chop up a single clove of Lady Lloyd's left Louboutin heel and simmer it in the heat of Scottee's latest performance piece.



2. When the mixture has caramelised, take two spoonfuls of the ambiguity surrounding Daniel Lismore's weight and gender and sieve this through Shelly Would's wig collection. When the mixture has thickened boil it in Ryan Styles' performance on the Kylie Show for the entire length of "What do you think you're looking at, Faggot?" by Jonny Woo.



3. Lightly dice Angel Rose's interesting accent and juice a whole Princess Julia original track and Kris Di Angelis remix over this.



4. Then go back to Daniel Lismore's extremely photogenic face and mix it with the fierceness of Shelly Would's strut. Add Dusty O's most uncomfortable moment created after a comment on stage and finally garnish with Jonathan Bestley's newly found attitude.



(We would recommend Josh Quinton's boyish and unique good looks as the perfect accompanying tipple)

Serves an infinite number of diners.

My look is inspired by People, because i love people and everything around me, colour, darkness, fairytales, the feelings of being transported to different places in my mind.

I love dressing up because whatever i do, i will always be considered dressed up, as i just love the freedom to express myself, i have a strange need of trying to make people understand me from the inside by displaying my mind on the outside visually. 

When I was little I wanted to be It always changed but a few things i wanted to be were a vet, an archeologist and a witch.

And I turned out to be a creative mix of madness, designer, stylist, event photographer without meaning too( i just like to capture good moments) , music lover, creature of the night.

My biggest achievement to date is Loving people, and I'm not sure... i guess it's my strange ability to find the people who may help me in the future and Hermes from Ladynoise wearing a dress i made for him at a gig. 

My favourite thing in the world is People

I hate being Not being bothered or sleeping, if i sleep i never seem to want to wake up and can end up missing the most amazing things even if i know they are happening. that really annoys me.

I love being With lots of positive people, with the night, being transported in to different places in my mind when my mind is muffled and i don't really know whats going on

In the first night of Fashion week, Jean-Pierre Braganza threw a party that gathered the club kids and London fashionistas at the super-sleek Mayfair venue Jalouse. 

The invite was stating: 

Make an effort - Drag Queens, Club Kids, Freaks & Goths all welcome

And they didn't disappoint. 

Around 9pm the queue started to build up and the club soon became swamped with colour and flamboyant outrage. In a good way of course.

As the night advanced, live PA by Rubi Goe and music by Luke Worall, London's own model-come-DJ, entertained us for a good measure until it was time for the after-party which was in conjunction with London's hottest new night HAUTE!

HAUTE! vs SHABBA DABBA DA! presents...ADA ZANDITON AW11: THE CRYOFLUX! in association with Illamasqua

As London Fashion Week is fast approaching and London prepares for the spectacular of shows and events that emerge around this prestigious week, Illamasqua want to invite you to celebrate with us at Haute!

Promoter Munroe teamed-up with club-kids leader and and creator of the ultra-successful SHABBA DABBA DA, Daniel Lismore in  a dedicated celebration of ADA ZANDITON's latest collection THE CRYOFLUX.  Joining forces with them was the latest craze in artisan make-up Illamasqua.

High-energy electro and dance tunes were bumping from the DJ booth and there was an incredible athmosphere.  

Even though the party had a relatively early end [at a mere 2am, when usually the main havoc is due], we didn't really mind at all. It is London Fashion Week after all and there were many a show to be rushed for in the morning. As we all know, the club-kid is a dedicated follower of fashion. 

All in all, the two parties provided for a great night-out in London town. Haute highlights here:
